Doctoral Reseracher

Biography

I'm a PhD student in Mathematics at Ghent University under the supervision of Tom De Medts. My position is part of the EOS-project "High-dimensional expanders and Kac-Moody-Steinberg groups" which is in cooperation with Pierre-Emmanuel Caprace and Timothée Marquis from UCLouvain. My main focus is on constructing new high-dimensional expanders using the rich structure provided by Kac-Moody-Steinberg groups. This involves studying buildings, in particular their opposite complexes, simplicial (co)homology theory as well as various aspects of group theory, geometry and combinatorics. In my free time, I like to play ultimate frisbee and bake fresh sourdough bread.

Interests

  • High-dimensional expander
  • Kac-Moody theory, in particular Kac-Moody-Steinberg groups
  • Buildings and groups acting on them
  • (Group) cohomology
